Tara K. Righetti, a professor at the University of Wyoming College of Law, has been chosen as the speaker for the 2023 Liskow Visiting Professor in Energy Law Lecture at LSU Law. The lecture, titled "Land & Regulatory Consequences of Carbon Sequestration Well Classifications," will focus on carbon capture and will take place on November 14 in the Robinson Courtroom.
Righetti brings a wealth of experience to the lecture, having previously held legal and executive positions in a privately held upstream oil and gas company. Since joining the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2014, she has held the Occidental Chair in Energy and Environmental Policy at the School of Energy Resources and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources.
Her research primarily centers around the administrative regulation of industrial decarbonization technologies, including carbon capture and storage, as well as subsurface property law. Righetti is also known for her expertise in innovative energy technologies, geoengineering governance and regulation, oil and gas law, and climate change law.
The Liskow Visiting Professor in Energy Law Lecture is made possible by an endowed contribution from the Liskow law firm, which was made in 2013. The professorship aims to bring distinguished experts in energy law and related fields to LSU Law on an annual basis. The event is open to the public and attendees will have the opportunity to earn one Louisiana CLE hour.
