NEW ORLEANS – A longshoreman has filed a negligence lawsuit against Chevron after allegedly tripping on a wire at the Jack St. Malo oil and gas production platform, sustaining severe injuries.

Plaintiff Joey Folse filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Chevron USA, Inc.

According to court documents, Folse was employed as a longshoreman and painter. Folse alleges that on June 29, 2023, while carrying out his job duties, he tripped on a wire left across a walkway on the Jack St. Malo, an oil and gas production platform owned or operated by Chevron.

Folse claims Chevron's negligence led to the accident and his subsequent injuries. He cites various breaches of duty, including failure to provide a safe work environment, inadequate supervision, and insufficient safety measures.

Folse claims that, as a result of Chevron's negligence, he suffered severe injuries to his left shoulder, left knee and other parts of his body.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory, special, and general damages, including medical expenses, loss of wages, and punitive damages. He is represented in this case by attorneys Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris, Megan C. Misko, and Joseph B. Marino III of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
