A woman claims she wasn't properly paid by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Yolanda Brown filed her complaint in federal court. She says she began working for the VA as a licensed practical nurse and was later reassigned to the non-exempt position of Advanced Medical Support Assistant with an agreed salary of $52,590. However, after October 2020, she says she was not paid at the agreed rate for her time, including overtime hours.

The complaint also says Brown had requested a department change due to stress and trauma associated with her daughter's sudden death. The VA agreed to this request and confirmed in writing that she would continue to be paid at her normal rate despite the reassignment.

Despite notifying the VA about the pay discrepancy on several occasions, Brown claims no corrective action was taken. She is now seeking unpaid wages, liquidated damages, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.
