A Sam's Club employee has sued the chain following a slip-and-fall accident at work.

Pamela Taylor Smiley filed her lawsuit in federal court against Sam's West Inc.

According to the complaint, Smiley was working March 10, 2023, at the Sam's Club in Metairie when she says she slipped and fell due to an unnoticeable meat juice residue on the floor which was obscured by the cart she was pushing.

She claims the defendant negligently allowed the hazardous substance to remain on the floor for an extended period of time without any attempt to remove or mitigate it. She also says the store  failed to warn her about the presence of this substance and did not conduct regular inspections to identify such hazards.

As a result of the fall, Smiley claims she sustained injuries to her back, neck, head, side and extremities. She is seeking compensatory damages.
