A Houma man says the 2021 GMC Sierra he purchased was defective.
Blake Karpinski filed his lawsuit in federal court against General Motors.
According to the complaint, Karpinski bought the vehicle from Barker Buick GMC in Houma on November 29, 2021. The total contract price of the vehicle was $80,619.25 including registration charges, document fees, sales tax, finance and bank charges.
Karpinski claims his vehicle is afflicted with certain defects related to its engine. Despite multiple attempts to get these issues fixed at Barker Buick GMC, the problems persist. As a result of these defects or non-conformities, he claims his vehicle was out of service for an excessive number of 45 days.
He says these defects existed at the time the vehicle left GM's control and are defects with materials and/or workmanship presenting reliability and safety concerns for Karpinski regarding his vehicle.
Karpinski bases his complaint on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Redhibition pursuant to the same act and La.C.C. Art. 2520. He claims more than $50,000 in damages, exclusive of interest and costs.
