A woman has filed a lawsuit claiming a glucose monitoring system she used is dangerous.
Katelyn Dickson filed her lawsuit in federal court against Dexcom Inc. regarding the company's G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System.
In the complaint, Dickson claims the G6 System, a medical device used by diabetic patients to monitor glucose levels, failed to provide accurate readings and did not alert her to dangerous glucose levels, resulting in serious injuries. The device is designed to replace fingerstick blood glucose testing and scanning, and can detect glucose levels that could trigger life-threatening medical events.
Dickson alleges the G6 System has a propensity to obtain inaccurate glucose readings and fail to transmit these readings or notify users of potential hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic events. This failure, she claims, can result in serious injuries or even death.
Dickson is a 29-year-old mother diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1). She says she used the Dexcom G6 System for approximately one year before it allegedly failed and caused her injuries.
