Two former employees are accusing a Louisiana-based energy company of racial discrimination.

Anthony Dozier and Cortney Smith filed their joint complaint in federal court against Voodoo Energy Services.

According to the complaint, Dozier was hired as an Operator Supervisor in July 2022 and later hired Smith as his helper

The plaintiffs claim their team, consisting mainly of Black males, was treated differently from another team led by William Moon, which consisted entirely of white workers. Instances cited include being denied necessary supplies for work, being forced to sleep in their trucks while the other team was provided hotel accommodations and being assigned to unfurnished apartments while the other team received fully furnished ones.

The complaint claims Voodoo Energy Services practiced discriminatory treatment toward its employees based on race. Dozier and Smith claim they were subjected to unfavorable working conditions compared to their white counterparts under the management of Moon.

They seek damages under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1991 and Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law.
