In the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Madeleine Dixon has filed a lawsuit against Taqueria La 20 LLC (doing business as "Mucho Mas") and Shawn Toups individually. The case, identified as 2:24-cv-00950-SSV-EJD, was filed on April 16, 2024. Dixon is suing for unpaid and underpaid wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Louisiana Wage Payment Act.

Dixon alleges that she was hired by Toups to work at Mucho Mas in January 2023 at a wage of $15 per hour. However, between January and March of that year, she claims her wages were not fully paid or were less than agreed upon without notice. This resulted in a debt owed to Dixon amounting to approximately $2,200. Furthermore, from May to July 2023, Dixon's paychecks were dishonored when presented for payment at the bank.

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for her unpaid and underpaid wages. Despite public assurances from Toups that all employees would be paid every penny owed to them, Dixon's wages remain unpaid as of the filing date. The plaintiff alleges reckless disregard of legal obligations by Mucho Mas and Toups.
