In the United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana, Annette Tyler, an individual, has filed a lawsuit against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana, LLC. The case ID is 4:24-cv-00609 and was filed on May 9th, 2024. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights (LCHR), seeking declaratory and injunctive relief, damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs.

Annette Tyler is a paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury and requires a wheelchair for mobility. She alleges that Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana has failed to provide accessible facilities at their location in Opelousas, Louisiana. The plaintiff claims that she encountered numerous architectural barriers while attempting to navigate the store with her wheelchair during her visit in April 2024.

The lawsuit further states that these barriers prevent Ms. Tyler from equally participating in or benefiting from the services offered at the store. It is also claimed that this discrimination is in violation of both ADA and LCHR.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana for their alleged violations of ADA and LCHR. She demands declaratory and injunctive relief to rectify these issues, along with damages for any harm suffered due to these alleged violations.
