SULC partners with RPCC, state officials and community organizations to host expungement intake session

The Southern University Law Center’s Office of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives is partnering with River Parishes Community Colleges, State Senator Ed Price, State Representative Ken Brass, State Representative Sylvia Taylor, St. John the Baptist District Attorney’s Office, River Parishes Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Blessed to Be A Blessing Organization, and the St. John the Baptist Clerk of Court to host an expungement intake event for St. John the Baptist residents onSaturday, February 1 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at River Parishes Community College Reserve Campus located at 181 Regala Park Rd, Reserve, LA.

 "Increasing the availability of employable individuals in the workforce is crucial," said Marla Dickerson, vice chancellor of Innovations and Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives. "Offering free expungement services will enable our residents to create a more sustainable life for their families." 

 During the session, St. John the Baptist residents will have the opportunity to have their criminal records reviewed to determine their eligibility for expungement. Participants must bring their valid driver’s license along with a background check from Louisiana State Police, a certified copy of minutes, and a certified bill of information.

  Along with the expungement intake session, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a career and community fair.
