Chip Hellmers Joins Deutsch Kerrigan, Bolstering Their Medical Malpractice Practice

Deutsch Kerrigan is pleased to welcome Carl E. “Chip” Hellmers, III to Deutsch Kerrigan. Chip’s extensive expertise in professional liability defense will significantly bolster their medical malpractice team.

Chip is highly skilled in defending hospitals, doctors, and healthcare providers in medical malpractice and healthcare-related matters for over twenty-five years. In addition, he defends medical professionals against civil rights and deliberate indifference claims arising out of medical care in correctional facilities. As part of his professional liability practice, he also defends insurance professionals, architects, and engineers in errors and omissions litigation.

A New Orleans native, Chip attended Jesuit High School and Loyola University. After earning his undergraduate degree at Loyola, he worked as a Claims Specialist for St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, managing medical malpractice and major commercial claims. Chip later graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Law School.
