Jasmine Rogers, a Louisiana resident, has filed a lawsuit against a major automobile manufacturer following a harrowing incident on Interstate 10. The complaint was lodged in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on October 15, 2024, naming FCA US, LLC as the defendant. Rogers claims that the vehicle she was operating experienced a critical malfunction that led to her sustaining significant injuries.

The case centers around an accident that occurred on October 23, 2023, when Jasmine Rogers was driving a 2020 Ram 5500 as part of her job with United Towing. While traveling on Interstate 10 in Slidell, Louisiana, the left rear wheel stud of her vehicle unexpectedly broke. This mechanical failure caused the wheel to detach from the vehicle, leading to Rogers losing control and being violently tossed inside until she managed to stop safely. As per the court documents, this incident resulted in injuries to her knee and back among other physical damages.

Rogers accuses FCA US, LLC of negligence and product liability violations. The allegations include manufacturing and distributing an unreasonably dangerous product both by design and due to defects in its manufacture. She further claims that FCA US failed to provide adequate warnings about potential dangers associated with using their vehicles. Specifically, it is alleged that there were material deviations in the wheel studs and lug nuts from the company’s performance standards which made them inherently unsafe. Additionally, Rogers argues that there existed alternative designs capable of preventing such damages but were not adopted by FCA US.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for various damages including $150,000 for pain and suffering (both past and future), $50,000 for mental anguish endured over time, $25,000 for medical expenses incurred due to her injuries, and another $50,000 accounting for loss of earnings and reduced earning capacity post-accident—amounting to total damages claimed at $275,000.

Representing Jasmine Rogers is attorney William R. Mustian III from Stanga & Mustian law firm based in Metairie, Louisiana. The case identification number is 2:24-cv-02474.
