Michael Diaz, a Louisiana resident, has filed a lawsuit against Paul Stalbaum, an Indiana citizen, following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Convent, Louisiana. The complaint was filed on March 27, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Diaz accuses Stalbaum of negligence that led to injuries and seeks damages exceeding $75,000.
The incident took place on March 28, 2024, when Michael Diaz was driving his Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on Convent Way. According to the complaint, he was rear-ended by Paul Stalbaum's Ford F-250. As a result of this collision, Diaz suffered from pain and numbness that required medical attention. Subsequently, Diaz filed an insurance claim with Bristol West Insurance Company, which insured Stalbaum. On April 8, 2024, the insurance company acknowledged the claim and accepted full liability for the accident.
Diaz’s complaint outlines several allegations against Stalbaum. It asserts that Stalbaum had a duty to operate his vehicle safely and reasonably but failed to do so by not maintaining proper control or keeping a lookout. The complaint further alleges that Stalbaum did not take necessary evasive actions to prevent the collision. Due to these alleged breaches of duty by Stalbaum, Diaz claims he sustained significant injuries and damages.
In seeking justice through the court system, Michael Diaz is requesting damages that exceed $75,000—exclusive of interest and costs—as determined at trial. He also seeks compensation for attorney's fees and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
