Injuries claimed in interstate wreck

A lawsuit claiming injuries in an I-10 accident near the Louisa Street exit was filed in Orleans Parish District Court on April 22.

Oliver Faure claims Martin Buras improperly changed lanes causing a wreck on the interstate's eastbound lanes on May 27, 2009, the suit claims.

Faure accuses Buras of negligence for failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle, failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to avoid striking another vehicle, improper lane change and violating traffic laws.

The lawsuit names Buras and and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. as defendants.

Faure claims he suffered severe and painful personal injuries including, but not limited to, all bones and muscles of the body, nerves, ligaments, tissues, and blood vessels; and more particularly, injures to his neck and back."

He is asking for damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, interest and court costs.

New Orleans attorneys Lisa B. Schneider and Warren A. Forstall, Jr. are representing Faure. Jury trial is requested.

Chief Judge Lloyd J. Medley is assigned to the case.
