Damaged properties not covered by insurers, suits claim

Johnny H. Robinson, Jr. of New Orleans claims his insurance companies arbitrarily denied coverage on his properties that suffered wind and wind related damages due to Hurricane Katrina, Rita and Gustav.

Robinson filed suits against Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's of London and Louisiana Citizens Fair Plan on April 23 in the Orleans Parish District Court.

The properties are located at Meadow Park Lane and Cambronne Street in New Orleans.

Robinson claims the defendants acted in an "arbitrary and capricious manner and failed to provide petitioner with all layers of coverage issued under said policy." He claims the companies denied or provided inadequate compensation for his property damage, loss of use of property, mold remediation, loss of contents, debris removal and other types of coverage that was listed in the insurance policy.

Robinson is asking for a compensatory award to make up for the inadequate compensation from the insurance company, penalties, attorney's fees and interest.

New Orleans attorneys David H. Bernberg and Henna Ghafoor of the Law Office of David W. Bernberg represent Robinson.
