Transit Authority sued after bus hit by another vehicle

A passenger is suing the Transit Authority after a truck collided with the bus she was riding.

Darlene Jones filed suit against Boh Brothers Construction Co., Vanessa Brown, Regional Transit Authority and Old Republic Insurance Co. June 24 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Jones she was a passenger on the transit bus driven by Vanessa Brown in Oct., 2009 and was injured when the bus was involved in a crash. According to court documents, a truck carrying a trailer collided with the bus and then drove away. Jones says that since the crash she has suffered cervical strain and headaches.

Brown is accused of negligence for failing to see what she should have seen and for driving her vehicle in a careless manner.

Boh Brothers Construction Co. is accused of fleeing the scene of the accident, failing to maintain proper lookout, entering another lane of traffic when it was not safe to do so and failing to yield to on-coming vehicles.

Jones is seeking damages for medical expenses, lost wages, future lost wages, pain and suffering, emotional stress and strain, interest and court costs.

Jones is represented by New Orleans attorney Darleen Jacobs.

Judge Robin M. Giarrusso is assigned to the case.
