Nurse claims New Orleans doctor sexually harassed her

An Omega Hospital nurse is suing a New Orleans doctor claiming he required sexual services as a condition of her employment.

Claiming violations of her civil rights, Leslie Ann Trosclair filed suit against Omega Hospital and XYZ Insurance Co. on Oct. 29 in federal court in New Orleans.

Trosclair was hired to work for the defendant as a registered nurse in April 2003 until September 2005 until she was promoted as nursing director. She remained in the position until Oct. 29, 2009, the complaint states.

Trosclair alleges Dr. Eric George, physician, manager and majority owner of Omega Hospital, required sexual services and quid pro quo sexual favors during work hours and after work hours as a condition of her employment.

She claims Dr. George used his money, power and high position to manipulate her work schedule. In addition to a $150,000 salary, Trosclair claims she was provided a private cell phone and trips to Destin, Fla., Houston or Mexico as long as she continued to have sex with Dr. George.

Trosclair claims she was ultimately terminated due to her unwillingness to cooperate with the demands of Dr. George. Omega Hospital justified the termination as a reduction in workforce, the lawsuit claims.

The defendant is accused of sexual discrimination, sexual harassment, maintaining a hostile work environment, retaliatory termination, of failing to properly train and supervise employees, failing to monitor, investigate and implement training in sexual harassment policy, battery and sexually harassing nurses, which affected patient's safety and failing to prevent sexual harassment of nurses and employees.

Trosclair is seeking damages for past and future lost wages, loss of employment benefits, emotional distress, humiliation, embarrassment and ridicule, mental anguish and battery, wrongful and retaliatory termination, punitive damages, attorneys' fees and costs.

Trosclair is represented by Metairie attorney Glenn C. McGovern and Gretna attorney Daryl A. Higgins. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge A. J. McNamara is assigned to the case.
