Nungesser
NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans-based law firm is suing a parish president for providing legal services that allegedly went unpaid.
Guste, Barnett, Schlesinger, Henderson & Alpaugh filed suit on Feb. 24 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against the Parish of Plaquemines.
The plaintiff claims it was approved by the Louisiana Attorney General to provide legal services for the parish in 2009 and that their services were provided to the parish through early 2011.
The law firm alleges the parish paid all invoices issued in 2009 and 2010, but not in 2011. The plaintiffs claim Nungesser refused payment to the plaintiffs beginning in May 2012 after the parish dismissed them immediately before they were to argue in front of the Louisiana Supreme Court on behalf of the parish.
Damages in the amount of $60,168 plus legal interest are sought for the unpaid legal services.
The plaintiffs are representing themselves through firm attorney Robert A. Barnett.
The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin M. Giarrusso.
