Dollar Tree sued by girl's mother for slip and fall

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local discount retailer for injuries she claims her minor daughter received on the store's premises.

Rhonda Powell filed suit on behalf of her minor daughter on March 23 against Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. Powell claims her daughter walked into the store and slipped on a wet substance and fell to the floor.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the spill, failing to clean up the spill, failing to put up a caution sign or barricade, failing to inspect the premises and failing to oversee those responsible for store maintenance.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for their alleged actions, costs of litigation, attorney's fees and judicial interest.

Powell is being represented by New Orleans-based attorney Frank J. D'Amico Jr.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.
