Woman sues Treasure Chest Casino and shuttle driver after falling down bus steps

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local casino for injuries she claims she received aboard one of its shuttle buses.

Rosie H. Barney filed suit against John Doe, The Treasure Chest Casino and their insurers in the New Orleans Civil District Court on June 18.

Barney claims she was exiting a shuttle bus when she stepped on a sticky substance that caught her foot and she fell forward to the road outside the bus. The plaintiff alleges she hit her back against the steps of the bus and hit her shoulder on the door causing serious personal injury.

The defendant is accused of allowing an individual to drive his or her vehicle who is not properly trained in the rules of driving and allowing an individual to drive a vehicle who drives negligently.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Barney is represented by Laplace-based attorney Tomy J. Acosta.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison, Jr.

Case number 716-052.
