Sally Beauty Supply sued by woman allegedly hurt in fall

Carlos A. Zelaya, II

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a beauty supply store for injuries she claims to have received while on its premises.

Velazquez Robeldo filed suit against Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 27. Robeldo claims she was shopping at the Sally Beauty Supply located at 1981-B Barataria Blvd. in Marrero when she slipped and fell due a substance on the floor.

The plaintiff alleges that she approached an employee of the store after the incident and asked the manager to fill out an incident report. Robeldo asserts that the manager was reluctant to fill out the report and while they were speaking about the incident two other store patrons slipped and fell on the same substance. The plaintiff alleges that after the other two incidents the manager instructed an employee to clean the floor.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the floor free of a dangerous substance, failing to post warning signs concerning the hazard and failing to inspect the premises for hazards.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for permanent bodily injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress.

Robeldo is represented by Carlos A. Zelaya, II of Slidell-based Mumphrey Law Firm, LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.

Case no. 718-723.
