Little Tokyo sued over fire extinguisher explosion incident

Little Tokyo

NEW ORLEANS – A Kenner woman is suing a local restaurant alleging she suffered injuries as a result of a fire extinguisher exploding at its establishment.

Katie Polito filed a lawsuit against Little Tokyo Restaurant Inc., Buckeye Fire Equipment and their insurers in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 20. Polito claims that while dining at the defendant's establishment a fire extinguisher, manufactured by Buckeye and sold to Little Tokyo, exploded causing her to sustain injuries to her legs and lower extremities.

The defendant is accused of failing to have a properly functioning fire extinguisher, failing to have a properly inspected fire extinguisher and failing to take steps to avoid the accident.

An unspecified amount is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, permanent disability and any other damage found reasonable in the case premises.

The plaintiff is represented by Attorney Christopher D. Weddle.

This case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2012-08136.
