NEW ORLEANS - A construction company is being sued for alleged breach of contract and performing substandard work while under a home renovation contract with an Orleans Parish resident.
Frank Ukadike filed a lawsuit against Sonco Construction L.L.C., Sonny Okpalobi, Acceptable Health Services LLC and Underwriters at Lloyd's of London Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 20.
The plaintiff claims Sonco failed to perform the scope of work within the delays allowed in the contract, breached the contract and damaged his property by using defectively manufactured components resulting in him having to hire new contractors for reconstruction. Ukadike also alleges that the defendants engaged in fraudulent behavior with funds he provided that allegedly never went toward the project.
An unspecified amount is sought for all damages including all costs for reconstruction, rent, insurance and taxes spent over the two years that elapsed since the job was supposed to be completed, money paid by plaintiff in scope of the contract that was never used for the intended purpose, emotional distress and mental anguish.
The plaintiff is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Gregory P. Nichols of the Law Offices of Gregory Nichols.
This case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
Case no. 2012-08126.
