GRETNA – A Lafourche Parish man is suing a dredging company and a contractor for alleged damages he received in a boat accident.
Michael Guidry, and wife Monica, filed suit against Great Southern Dredging, Inc. and L&A Contracting Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 10. Guidry claims he was riding in a vessel with five other individuals at Bayou Perot as part of his job when it struck an iron beam below the surface of the water that had been left behind by the defendants which were earlier engaged in a construction project on the site. The plaintiff alleges he received injuries in the accident and his life was put in danger due to the defendants' alleged negligence.
The defendants are accused of failing to properly install iron channel beams, intentionally allowing the beams to remain in a navigable waterway and failing to remove the same number of iron channel beams being driven into Bayou Perot to ensure public safety.
Damages sought by Guidry include mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses.
Guidry is represented by Jeremiah A. Sprague of Marrero-based Falcon Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan, Jr.
Case no. 719-923.
