GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing Louis Armstrong International Airport for injuries she claims to have sustained after she fell on the premises as she was asked to step aside for an intensive search by airport security personnel.

Nadege Assale filed suit against the City of New Orleans, New Orleans Aviation Board, Louis Armstrong International Airport, ACE Property and Casualty Insurance Company and another unknown insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court. Assale claims that she had arrived at the airport to take a flight on United Airlines from New Orleans to Houston when she was asked to step aside by the airport’s security personnel. The plaintiff alleges that as she moved to a secure area her heel caught on a floor mat and she fell and struck her head on a metal barricade.

The defendants are accused of failing to provide a safe environment for customers, failing to warn customers of unsafe conditions, failing to avoid an accident, failing to follow established airport safety protocol, failing to inspect premises, ignoring a hazardous condition and willfully ignoring a hazard.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical and other healthcare expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress.

Assale is represented by Emile J. Dreuil, III of New Orleans-based Slattery, Marino & Roberts.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre.

Case no. 721-162.
