Woman sues shopping mall development for severe back injuries after falling over speed bump

L

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local shopping mall for injuries she claims to have received in a parking lot fall.

Candace Gray filed suit against the Marrero Land and Improvement Association Limited in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 3. Gray claims she was walking in the parking lot of 1951 Barataria Blvd. outside the Budget Saver when she tripped and fell over a raised speed bump. The plaintiff alleges she was injured in the fall.

The defendant is accused of failing to repair the dangerous speed bump, failing to notice the speed bump presented a tripping hazard, failing to provide a pedestrian crossing in the parking lot, failing to properly paint the speed bump so it was visible and failing to warn of a hazardous speed bump.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe back injuries.

Gray is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Harry E. Forst.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.

Case no. 721-649.
