GRETNA – A Mississippi-based trucking company is suing a local firm it contracted to process shipping payments for allegedly not forwarding all proceeds.

Tracy and Joann Vince filed suit on behalf of Southland Express LLC against Metro Rediscount Company Inc., Brian Brennan and Frank J. Adolf in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 31. Southland Express claims it set up a post office box in Jefferson Parish where customers could send payments for the company and that the box would be overseen by Metro Rediscount Company which would process the payments. The plaintiffs claim the defendants began sending checks that returned due to non-sufficient funds.

Southland asserts it contacted all of its customers and had them route payments to their headquarters in Mississippi thereafter.

Damages in the amount of $527,101.57, plus interest, cost of the proceedings and legal costs are sought by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs are represented by Tom W. Thornhill of the Slidell-based Thornhill Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Carolyn W. Gill-Jefferson.

Case no. 722-504.
