Auto dealer sued by customer who fell on parking lot slope

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish auto dealer is being sued by a customer who was allegedly injured in a fall on a slope on its parking lot.

Angela S. Singleton, and husband Kenneth, filed suit against Ray Brandt Motors LLC, Ray Brandt Toyota and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 8. Singleton claims on April 9, 2012 that she was a customer at Ray Brandt Motors located at 2460 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when she stepped on a slope in the parking lot that had not been cleared of grit and other debris. The plaintiff alleges she slipped on the slope and fell to the parking lot pavement. Singleton asserts she sustained serious injuries to her right shoulder, neck, right arm, fingers, bulging discs and post-traumatic pain.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the walkway, failing to properly supervise the walkway, failing to properly inspect the walkway, failing to properly maintain the premises and failing to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, physical pain and suffering, inconvenience, embarrassment, mental anguish, deprivation of ordinary pleasures of life, loss of well-being and community, loss of income, disability and impairment of health.

Singleton is represented by Janis W. Lemle of the New Orleans-based Carter Law Group LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
