Walgreen’s pharmacy sued by woman who slipped at store

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a corporate pharmacy for injuries she claims to have received on their premises.

Misty Dickerson, and husband Lesley, filed suit against Walgreen Louisiana and Zurich American Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 12.

Dickerson claims that she was shopping at the Walgreen's Pharmacy located at 4600 West Bank Expressway in Marrero when she slipped in a liquid substance and fell to the floor.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the hazard, failing to provide a reasonably safe place to walk, failing to inspect and supervise the premises, creating a hazard, failing to establish or implement policies to prevent the hazard, hiring employees without proper and adequate safety procedures and failing to remove the foreign liquid substances from the floor to prevent danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, rehabilitative expenses, loss of income and employment opportunity, loss of earnings capacity, loss of insurability, physical pain and suffering, emotional anguish and distress, physical and psychological disability, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium and expert fees.

Dickerson is represented by attorney Richard J. Fernandez of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
