NEW ORLEANS – A subcontractor is suing a local school board and a contractor for allegedly not properly paying for work performed.
Lopez Mechanical Inc. filed suit against the Olympic Group LLC., St. Tammany Parish School Board and the Gray Casualty & Surety Co. in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on June 5.
Lopez Mechanical Inc. claims that after executing renovations on classrooms, the library, restrooms, gymnasium and hallways of Woodlake Elementary School in Mandeville, the defendants refused to pay for the work completed. The plaintiff claims their labor was completed as part of a construction project initiated by the St. Tammany Parish School Board.
The plaintiff is seeking $51,500 plus all damages, penalties, attorney’s fees, interest and cost or other amounts permitted by law.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
