Woman who tripped over floor mat at work sues

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman who allegedly tripped over a floor mat and fell at the entrance of a local hospital where she was employed is suing for injuries she claims to have received.

Barbara Traylor filed suit against United Fire and Casualty Company and A-1 Services Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 4.

Traylor claims she was entering her place of employment at River Oaks Hospital when she slipped on a floor mat provided by A-1 Services Inc. and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she received severe personal injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of providing a defective mat, failing to properly clean the mat, failing to properly inspect the mat before  delivering it, failing to warn the hospital of the danger, providing a mat that was no longer suitable and providing a mat that did not properly adhere to the floor.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental suffering, medical bills, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Traylor is represented by Jack P. Ruli Jr. of New Orleans-based Gennusa, Piacun & Ruli.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
