GRETNA – A local shoring company is being sued by homeowners for allegedly severely damaging their home in the process of raising it.
Minh Duong and Thu Vu filed suit against Louisiana Foundation Solutions LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 7.
Duong and Vu assert they contracted with Louisiana Foundation Solutions to raise their home located at 1301 Dogwood Drive in Harvey within a period of 90 days. They allege that due to improper work practices by Louisiana Foundation Solutions their home’s foundation was severely damaged. They also claim the foundation suffered cracks which resulted in the home being unlivable following the home raising.
The plaintiffs assert that the footings placed by the defendants were faulty.
They further claim that a representative from Louisiana Foundation Solutions issued a report stating the home was in good condition with no signs of damage and subsequently refused to make repairs.
The defendant is accused of failing to abide by the contract, failing to use proper and appropriate workmanship and failing to mitigate damages.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for structural damage, diminution of property values, discomfort and extraordinary inconvenience, emotional distress, personal economic losses, loss of use of property and expenditures for repairs.
Duong and Vu are represented by Anh Quang Cao of the Harvey-based Cao Law Firm.
The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
Case no. 736-299.
