GRETNA – A Memphis man who owns part of a craft store company is suing his Louisiana based business partner for allegedly not fully reporting receipts and opening up an additional location without consulting him first.
Basem Hemaid filed suit against Janel Zughayer, Adli Zughayer, Nicol Doe and Brittney Creppel in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 10.
Hemaid claims he conceived a business plan to expand his business known as Bethlehem Crafts with the help of the Zughayers. The plaintiff asserts that he was to remain in Memphis to run the main Bethlehem Crafts and that he had several assets shipped to the Zughayer residence and that Adli Zughayer was to operate a Bethlehem Crafts location in Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie. Hemaid alleges that Adli Zughayer did not deposit all sales receipts from the store to the bank.
The plaintiff claims that the defendants further opened a Baton Rouge location without his knowledge or permission. Hemaid asserts that the defendants misrepresented the truth of the business conducted at Lakeside Shopping Center and failed to account for any of the business performed at the Baton Rouge location and that they converted his assets into sales proceeds for their own use.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for a temporary restraining order to stop financial loss, emotional distress and reasonable attorney fees.
Hemaid is represented by Joseph B. Landry of the Law Offices of Joseph B. Landry APLC.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
Case no. 737-344.
