GRETNA – A bus passenger is suing a motorist he claims injured him when his vehicle collided with the bus he was riding in.

Earnest Lee Chambers filed suit against Automobile Club Inter-Insurance Exchange and Gary Bordelon in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 22.

Chambers contends that he was riding on a public bus owned by Jefferson Parish Transit Bus that was stopped on Airline Highway when a truck being driven by Bordelon rear ended them.

The defendant is accused of following too closely, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to keep his vehicle under control, failing to see what should have been seen and failing to exercise the chance to avoid an accident.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

Chambers is represented by James S. Rees IV of New Orleans-based Charbonnet Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.

Case no. 742-668.
