Woman allegedly injured in a fall on wet floor in office building sues

GRETNA – A local office building is being sued by a woman who claims she was seriously injured in a fall in its lobby.

Delores Barocco filed suit against Veterans Commercial Properties LLC, 3848 Veterans Boulevard LLC, Mesa Underwriters Specialty Insurance Company and Select Properties Ltd. Realty in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 25.

Barocco claims that she was at the defendant’s office building located at 3848 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie for an appointment with her doctor when she took a few steps on a slippery and wet tile floor and fell forward onto her face. The plaintiff alleges that she received injuries to her body, neck and back in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to give warning of the danger, failing to properly inspect the area, failing to warn of danger, failing perform necessary service, failing to keep common area safe, failing to provide a safe area, properly supervise employees, allowing a hazardous condition and not inspecting the floor.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, physical disability, disfigurement, scarring, loss of enjoyment of life, future loss of wages and loss of earning capacity.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
