NEW ORLEANS – A former manager of a local hat store is claiming taht incentives in his contract were not met after his termination.
James Steak filed suit against Hat World Inc., doing business as Lids, in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 21.
The suit claims that on Sept. 2, 2014, the plaintiff was dismissed from his position as store manager. Steak alleges that following his termination he has failed to receive his vacation pay along with additional agreed upon terms in his contract such as, “commissions and incentive bonuses for work performed prior to his termination.”
The plaintiff claims that Lids' failure to agree and pay the terms of their contract is a direct violation of the Louisiana Wage Payment Act.
In addition, Steak alleges that he did not receive his accrued vacation pay from Lids until close to three weeks after his termination. The plaintiff asserts this violates the company’s policy and holds them liable for penalty wages as, “he was owed on the next regular payday after his discharge.”
The plaintiff is represented by Christopher L. Williams of Williams Litigation LLC.
The case has been assigned to Div. A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
Case no. 2014-11219.
