Slidell frozen yogurt shop sued over alleged breach of lease

NEW ORLEANS – The owner of a commercial building in Slidell is suing Skinny Berry, a local yogurt shop, for allegedly neglecting to pay its rent for two years.

White III, LLC filed suit against Skinny Berry LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on April 20, 2015.

The plaintiff claims that the defendant entered into a commercial lease agreement on Dec. 3, 2012. The plaintiff also claims that as part of the agreement, it spent tens of thousands of dollars renovating the space for the defendant. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of subsequently failing to pay rent during the period July 18, 2013 to Aug. 14, 2014.

The defendant is accused of breaching the contract by failing to pay rent as per the lease agreement.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of the principle, $39,529.28, and additional relief for violation of the agreement.

The plaintiff is represented by Jean-Paul Layrisson of New Orleans-based Scandurro & Layrisson LLC.

This case has been assigned to Div. I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
