A professional pilot is suing two industrial corporations alleging negligence in a 2013 aerial incident which allegedly exposed the plaintiff to hazardous gases.
Glenn Christian Fisher sued EPL Oil & Gas Inc. and Wood Group PSN Inc. in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on Sept. 17, alleging negligence
According to the lawsuit, the complainant was operating a helicopter owned by his employer, Panther Helicopters Inc., on a commercial flight in the area of the Gulf of Mexico on or about Aug. 13, 2013. The suit states that the helicopter suffered engine failure due to the ingestion of gases released into the atmosphere from a nearby platform belonging to and operated by the defendants, subsequently crashing into the Gulf of Mexico.
According to the suit, the defendants Wood Group and EPL jointly decided to release gas into the atmosphere in an area frequented by helicopters without giving notice to plaintiff or his employer, failing to abide by industry standards.
The plaintiff avers severe physical injuries, pain and suffering, loss of pleasure in life, lost earnings and earning capacity and medical expenses.
