571cac6e

A woman from Orleans Parish is alleging harm to body and mind as a result of implanted devices designed to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and pelvic organ prolapse (POP).

Kathryn H. Singleton filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on Oct. 7 against American Medical Systems Inc., American Medical Systems Holdings Inc., Endo Pharmaceuticals and Endo Pharmaceuticals Holdings Inc. She alleges that their pelvic mesh products caused her harm.

Singleton was implanted with these products on April 7, 2009, to treat her SUI and POP, the claim states. She allegedly suffered great physical and mental pain as a result of these products, and was even forced to undergo corrective surgery. The claim states that these products were defective and unsafe for use.

She is seeking unspecified damages for medical expenses in past and future, past and future pain and suffering, past and future mental anguish, past and future physical disfigurement, loss of earnings, litigation costs and other damages deemed appropriate by the court. She is represented by Bernard J. Bagert Jr. of The Bagert Law Firm in New Orleans.
