An Alabama seaman is suing four maritime companies, alleging negligence for injuries sustained in a fall down the stairs on a ship.

Christopher Little, of Summerdale, Ala., filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Edison Chouest Offshore, Offshore Service Vessels, Galliano Marine Service and Team Marine, alleging negligence for injuries suffered in a fall down an unsafe stairway.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 23, 2014, Little was working as a crew engineer aboard the vessel the M/V Fast Server when he sustained a fall while walking down the stairs on the vessel.

The plaintiff alleges he suffered severe and disabling injuries because the stairway and handrail were unsafe.

Little seeks unspecified damages, litigation costs, and other relief deemed suitable by the court. He is represented by attorney J. Christopher Zainey Jr., Brian P. Marcelle, and Stephen M. Huber of Huber, Slack Thomas & Marcelle in New Orleans.
