A Mississippi financial consultant is suing a Louisiana resident, alleging defamation and false claims.

Terry King, of Diamondhead, Miss., filed a lawsuit on Oct. 15 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Robert E. Couvillion of Madisonville, La., alleging the defendant's false claims in public have damaged the plaintiff's reputation.

According to the complaint, King has done much to fight against political corruption in St. Tammany Parish since 2009. Due to his actions, he has garnered much negative attention from Couvillion, who leads a Facebook group called “The ‘True’ Concerned Citizens of St. Tammany Parish,”  the suit says.

The lawsuit states Couvillion has made several untrue and defamatory allegations against King that have damaged his reputation.

King seeks unspecified damages, litigation costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. He is represented by attorney Al J. Robert, Jr. of the Law Office of Al J. Robert, Jr. in New Orleans.

U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana case number 2:15-cv-05176-MLCF-SS.
