BATON ROUGE — An East Baton Rouge Parish woman is suing two consumer reporting agencies, alleging false reporting and inaccurate information.
Brittney Sanders filed a lawsuit April 12, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana Baton Rouge Division against Portfolio Recovery Associates and Experian Information Solutions, Inc., alleging they violated the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act.
According to the complaint, Sanders has suffered actual damages, plus great physical, emotional and mental pain and anguish because the defendants failed to provide a good faith investigation into a disputed account as required by law.
The suit says the defendants changed the dates for “date of status,” “reported since” and “first reported,” provided inaccurate and misleading credit information and failed to follow reasonable procedures to ensure maximum possible accuracy.
Sanders seeks a trial by jury and actual, statutory and punitive damages, reasonable attorney fees, legal costs and other relief as may be proper. She is represented by attorney Jonathan Raburn of The Raburn Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
