Suit filed against Ebony Beauty Supply for allegedly unpaid rent

GRETNA – A corporation is seeking damages after a tenant allegedly failed to make payments.

WSSC LLC, doing business as Woodmere Square Shopping Center, filed a suit against Hong Jo Kang, doing business as Ebony Beauty Supply, and Hong Jo Kang in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 20.

According to the claim, the plaintiff and defendant entered into a commercial lease agreement on Jan. 31, 2006, for the property at 3407 Lapalco Blvd. Suite D-3 in Harvey. The defendant, however, allegedly failed to make payments for the base rent, as well as additional rent payments for the period of time between July 2014 and January.

The defendant is accused of failure to pay the plaintiff for the agreed upon leasing amount

The plaintiff is seeking $176,579.04 in outstanding principal, 48,828.95 for accruing late fees, and $44,144.76 for attorney's fees and expenses. The plaintiff is represented by W. Peter Connick, Peter J. Rotolo, E. Howell Crosby and Anthony P. Dunbar of Chaffe McCall in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams
