LAFAYETTE — Two Louisiana residents are suing a Texas motorist, alleging his negligence caused a rear-end crash.
Ronald P. Clauhs and Joseph Dimitri filed a lawsuit June 6 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Lafayette Division against
Scott J. Liriano and Liriano Motors LLC,
alleging failure to to obey traffic rules and regulations.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 23, 2015, Clauhs was legally operating a vehicle owned by Dimitri on eastbound Interstate 10 Highway in St. Martin Parish and stopped due to a traffic jam. The suit says a vehicle operated by Liriano slammed into the back of the last stopped vehicle, two cars behind the plaintiffs' vehicle, triggering a chain reaction that caused the plaintiffs' vehicle to be rear-ended by the previously stopped vehicle behind them.
As a result of the accident, Clauhs and Dimitri sustained damages, including lost wages and lost earning capacity, physical and mental pain and suffering, medical expenses and property damage.
The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to keep proper lookout, failed to do what should have done, failed to maintain control of the vehicle and operated the vehicle in a careless and dangerous manner.
Clauhs and Dimitri seek a trial by jury, all relief, judicial interest from date of demand, all legal costs, and all other relief the court deems fair. They are represented by attorneys Jonathan H. Adams of New Orleans and Peggy Wallace of Gretna.
