GRETNA – A man alleges he was injured in a slip-and-fall accident at a rental property.

Alexander Burton III filed a suit against Mary Mayeaux in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 3.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a tenant of the property located at 4700 Belle Drive in Metairie on Aug. 22 when the incident occurred. The suit states that while walking on the property, the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on liquid from an air conditioning unit, allegedly resulting in injuries.

The defendant is accused of breach in failure to properly maintain the property, failure to take the necessary precautions, failure to fix defects in the property and other acts of negligence and omission.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. He is represented by DaShawn Hayes of the Hayes Law Firm in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
