Caffe! Caffe! Restaurant faces suit from woman over alleged injuries

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is seeking damages following an incident in which she was allegedly caused to fall from a high walkway at a Metairie restaurant.

Retha J. Slade filed a suit against Seals Development-Clearview LLC, State National Insurance Co. Inc., Caffe! Caffe! Restaurant Inc. and State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 7.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a business invitee at Caffe! Caffe! Restaurant at 4301 Clearview Parkway on June 10, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that when the plaintiff was exiting the venue, she was caused to fall when she encountered a walkway that was excessively high. The fall allegedly resulted in injuries to the plaintiff.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failure to maintain the premises in a safe manner, failure to inspect the premises and remedy such dangers, failure to take reasonable care and overall negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by A. Scott Tillery of Tiller & Tillery in Metairie. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
