Woman seeks damages after she allegedly fell in a Family Dollar store

GRETNA – A Louisiana woman alleges that she was caused to slip and fall while in a Family Dollar store.

Juanita Ogden filed a suit against the Family Dollar Stores of Louisiana Inc. and Jane Doe in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was an invitee of the defendants and was at the Family Dollar store No. 10569 at 701 Whitney Ave. in Terrytown on July 7, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while the plaintiff was at the store, she was caused to fall and be injured due to a puddle of water on the floor.

The defendants are accused of negligence through their failure to provide safe premises for customers, failure to remedy the situation to prevent incidents from occurring and failure to warn customers and guests of the present danger.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by J. Benjamin Avin and Anthony D. Irpino of the Irpino Law Firm New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darrensburg.
