NEW ORLEANS — A seaman is suing a maritime operator, alleging its negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Donald W. Covington Jr. filed a lawsuit July 1 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Nobel Drilling US LLC alleging failure to protect, negligence and violation of General Maritime Law.
According to the complaint, in September 2015 he was in an accident while working aboard the M/V Paul Romano, which resulted in serious body injuries. The suit says Covington sustained mental and emotional suffering, loss of wages and fringe benefits, physical disability and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Nobel Drilling failed to provide a safe way to work, failed to take precautions for employees' safety, and created of an unseaworthy vessel.
Covington seeks a trial by jury, compensation for all damages, costs, including expert fees, and all other relief. He is represented by attorneys Timothy J. Young, Tammy D. Harris Megan, C. Misko and Daniel J. Poolson of The Young Firm in New Orleans.
