Car accident 39

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages over claims that a negligent driver and police vehicle were responsible for her injury in a car accident.

Audrey Collins filed a suit against Atlanta Specialty Insurance Co., the city of Gretna Police Department, city of Gretna and Theodore Tobias III, Angel Brooks and Allstate Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 24.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a passenger in a car being driven by Brooks eastbound on LA 466 on July 14, 2015. The suit states that while driving the car, a city of Gretna Police Department vehicle being driven by Tobias II was traveling westbound, but did not have the proper emergency lights on. Angel Brooks allegedly failed to yield to the police vehicle, causing it to strike the car.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failure to drive their cars in a lawful manner, failure to maintain control of their vehicles, and further negligence in regards to the details of the case.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Kevin G. Kytle of Kytle and Kytle in Kenner. The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
