NEW ORLEANS — A Mississippi man is suing his former employer, alleging failure to pay proper overtime.

David Beard of Amite County, Mississippi, filed a lawsuit July 1 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Audubon Field Solutions LLC,  alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, between 2009 and October 2015, when Beard worked as a paint and coatings inspector, he suffered financial damages for not receiving proper compensation for all hours worked of more than 40 hours per week and for loss wages and benefits.

The plaintiff alleges Audubon Field Solutions failed to pay him at a rate of not less than one and one half times his regular hourly rate for each hour of work in excess of 40 per week as required by FLSA and then terminated his employment in October 2015.

Beard seeks a trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages due, liquidated damages, reasonable attorney fees and expenses, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, legal costs and all other relief which the court deems appropriate. He is represented by attorney Christopher Zaunbrecher of Lafayette.
